Students from Outside Canada

¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ welcomes applications from from outside of Canada. Students choose ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ because of its reputation as a leader in naturopathic education and research.

In order to study in Canada, you will need a study permit; which can take up to four months to process. You will need the following:
  • Proof of acceptance to ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ
  • Proof of identity
  • Proof of financial support
  • Letter of explanation
Check the website of the visa office responsible for your country or region for local requirements, as you may have to provide additional information.
Graduates from the United States, who plan to return home to practice after graduation, will meet the eligibility requirements for all regulated jurisdictions in the U.S.
Applicants who intend to practice outside North America are advised to contact the local naturopathic medicine licensing body to inquire about requirements for licensing in that country.
Submit proof of English language proficiency from one of the following:
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT: minimum 86 out of 120 (¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ TOEFL DI Code: 0245)
  • IELTS (academic): minimum overall band score of 6.5 or higher (on a 9 point scale)
  • level PW (University Pathway) 3.3 (must achieve minimum cumulative grade point average or minimum letter grade equivalent to 75%)
Study Permits
In addition to ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ’s admission requirements, international applicants must ensure they acquire a valid study permit prior to the start of the intended intake.
¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ is recognized by the Government of Canada as a designated learning institution (DLI) for study permit purposes. The DLI number for the ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ - ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ is O19305338292. The DLI number for the ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ - ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ is O19219916952.
International applicants must comply with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's and must obtain a .
¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ will require a copy of your study permit and other documents as required.
Without a valid study permit, students are not permitted to attend classes.

Additonal mandatory fees include: extended health and dental plan, international student basic health plan (¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ - ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ only), membership to student associations, and convocation.
Other incidental fees may include: international student Medical Services Plan (MSP; ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ - ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ only), membership to the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND), student membership to the (CCHPBC; ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ - ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ only), books, equipment, course remediation, exam fees, CPR certification, TB testing, other health testing as required, and examination retake fees. Please consult the academic calendar for a full list of mandatory and incidental fees.
Please note that additional health plan protection can be purchased directly with the provider at the student’s expense for spouses and/or dependents.

    Can I work while I study?
    Yes! You need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) from in order to work in Canada. As long as you have a SIN, a valid study permit and are enrolled as a full-time student at ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ, you are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during regular academic sessions. You can also work full-time during scheduled breaks, such as the winter and summer holidays or spring break.
    I have a spouse or common-law partner – can I bring them to Canada?
    Your spouse or common-law partner may apply for a work permit as long as you are a full-time student at ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ with a valid study permit. Work permits for your spouse or common-law partner are valid for the same period of time as your study permit.

    You have the option of choosing from the affordable, on-site residence or nearby, off-campus housing options at the ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ - ¶ºÄÌÊÓƵ. If you choose to live off-campus, it is important to .
